Single-turn wave compression springs with a gap perfectly replace stamped single-turn spring washers. Standard wave compression springs with overlap and with a gap are used in a variety of applications. For small deformations, low and medium forces, they work accurately and reliably. Two types of SMALLEY wave springs allow radial expansion or an increase in the diameter in the cavity, while excluding jamming or jamming characteristic of such stamped wavy spring washers. As follows from the names of the types, the springs with a gap have some free space between the ends, and the type with an overlap has the ends coming one on top of the other. Thus, the ends move freely around the circumference, while the outer diameter of the spring increases under load.
